In 2011 Andrew Livingston was looking for a New York based company to make hats for his own streetwear brand. While searching he found a factory in North Brooklyn and became friends with the soon-to-retire owner of the factory. Their friendship grew so much that the owner eventually sold Andrew the factory and every machine in it, at an unbelievable price to avoid the building becoming another set of overpriced luxury condos.
Andrew quickly brought in some of his close friends to help turn this into their own dream factory and shared workspace for their creative visions. It was this story of chance, friendship and dusty old hat making machines that Knickerbocker Mfg was born out of, and still use as their guideposts for everything they’ve done since.
